Lesson Summary: In this lesson, students will begin by reading a news report about Naeema Gilyard's complaints regarding illegal landfills and air pollution in Fairburn, Georgia. This will serve as the foundation for their project-based learning (PBL) activity focused on finding solutions to pollution in their community. Students will investigate the causes and effects of these environmental issues, collaborate to brainstorm and develop practical solutions, and create action plans to address the problems. By engaging with real-world issues and working towards tangible outcomes, students will enhance their research, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, while also learning the importance of community involvement and environmental stewardship.
