Rigor & Relevance Sample 2
Lesson Summary:In this lesson, students engaged in a high-rigor, high-relevance activity by using the Think-Pair-Share strategy to explore the topic of water contamination and ways to reduce it. They began by individually considering what water contamination is and how it can be decreased, then paired up to discuss their thoughts and share ideas with the class. Following this, students participated in a gallery walk, observing various photos depicting water contamination. They recorded their observations, thoughts on what might be happening in each photo, and any questions they had in their STEM journals. This activity not only fostered collaborative learning and critical thinking but also deepened students' understanding of environmental issues and the importance of clean water.
